Rooted in my knowledge of social dynamics within Senegalese communities, I manipulate domestic objects by deconstructing and sculpting them to create forms that resist their original utility. These sculptural modifications serve as a physical extension to my own resistance against inherited structures. Fabricated in wood, metal, plastic and sand, my work translates oral traditions into material forms that are transformed for their distinct behaviors: flexibility, rigidity, smoothness, and fragility - speaking to the layered, shifting nature of tradition. Through the collective presence and exchange of this reimagined home, the objects complicate and emphasize material meaning as an unfixed force. Here, personal experience carries the weight of time and labor, reflecting the memory of Senegalese households.
